Reds Triumph in 1991 World Series

Wednesday, October 23rd, 1991: The Cincinnati faithful were cheering in the streets and the Oakland fans were crying in their beer -- The Reds won the World Series. They clinched it by knocking off the Athletics 4-3 to take their 5th Major League Baseball crown. Cincinnati took the series 4-1.

"This club never gave up all year long. They believed they could win the title and they did," the victorious skipper told the press.

"We just didn't play well enough to win," the Athletics manager said. "We just didn't make the big plays like they did."

On the way to the World Series title Cincinnati compiled a 87-75 won-loss record and finished first in the National Western Division.
